Barrett Carter is just insanely versatile. Per PFF, he played 341 snaps in coverage (w/2 INTs & 5 PBU). Played 331 snaps in the box (w/37 stops on unsuccessful opponent plays). Played 113 snaps at LoS (w/24 QB pressures).

Pitt's Shayne Simon saw 26 targets while in coverage last year and allowed just 75 yards while racking up 6 PBUs. Per PFF, he graded out as the ACC's best LB in coverage.

Cedric Gray played 948 snaps last year – or 95.3% of UNCβs total defensive plays. Power Echols was No. 2 in the league with 841.

Gray had 13% more snaps than any non-UNC defender in the ACC.
Drake Thomas is a big loss for NC State… but Isaiah Moore is too. He was so good vs the run last year, leading ACC with 31 run stuffs — 7 more than Thomas, who was 2nd. He had just 5 missed tackles all year. And PFF had him graded as the best LB in the country vs. the run.

Chase Jones led a Wake LB corps that was quite good vs the pass last year. Vs. slot/TE/backfield passes, Wake allowed a 69.2 QBR (tied w/Clemson for 3rd in ACC) and just 7.1 yards/pass (trailing only NCSU & Clemson).

Jones, specifically, was exceptional. He allowed a 39-yard first-quarter completion to Marshon Ford vs. Louisville last year, but on his 24 other targets (per PFF) he allowed just 84 yards (3.5 per) — none for TDs or 20+.
